Various Announcements

Posted by webmaster on May 16th, 2007

Pastor Lucas is starting the college community group again this Sunday at 5:30.  They will be meeting in the balcony.  The recent high school graduates are welcome to attend if they would like to make the switch now.

Just a reminder that there is a VBS workers meeting tonight in the kitchen area.  There is still a need for more workers.  Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 6th Grade are still needing teachers and helpers.  If you would like to help, please come to this meeting tonight.

It is getting very close to “camp time” for our youth.  The following camps still need counsellors:  junior boys needs one more counsellor to be there with Mark Lang, junior high needs a boys and girls counsellor and senior high needs a boys and girls counsellor.  There is no cost for the counsellors.  Please let Pastor Abe know if you could help.

Ava Johnson Update

Posted by webmaster on May 15th, 2007

Our trip to Omaha went well and we are home! We arrived at about 8am and were out of there by 11:30am. Ava was a trooper through it all and is very happy to be home.

To all of you that were praying about Ava’s sedation, it went super. Ava’s tummy was empty so when the ’sleepy’ drugs were put through her NG tube, it upset her tummy a little and she threw some of it up, but then was fine. It started taking effect within five minutes and she even slept through most of getting an IV. She slept through the entire MRI and only started moving her feet at the very end. She woke up very happy and is still a little sluggish, but is acting great.

She did end up getting an IV put in so they could put a contrast dye through it for the MRI. She only had two pokes, but who’s counting!?

The MRI took about an hour and I was able to sit in the room with her while it was being done. They gave us both big headphones to wear to protect our ears from the noise of the machine. I have to admit, I took a little nap while I was sitting there.

We did get to talk to the doctor before and after the MRI. He was actually supposed to be on vacation today, so it was a blessing that he was there at all. We will not find out the complete results for a couple days, but he was able to tell us a couple things. One thing (and the main reason we did the test in the first place) is that he was able to get a look at her left pulmonary veins and they are attached and there does seem to be at least some blood flow through them. The second thing is that he could tell just by looking at the pictures that Ava’s right ventricle has a lot more muscle mass around it than normal. Just to make that more clear, the right ventricle in a normal heart is about 1/3-1/2 the size of the left ventricle and in Ava’s heart they are about the same size. This shows that her right ventricle is working a lot harder than it should which means that there is some pulmonary stenosis. That said, the doctor does not believe that she at risk for heart failure at this time and he may recommend that we take her to a Cath. Lab to get an even better idea of what is going on. But we will not know fully for a couple days.

We continue to wait on the Lord and enjoy our smiley, silly girl. Thank-you for all your prayers, we could definitely feel them today.

Rejoicing day by day!

Offering & Tables/Chairs

Posted by webmaster on November 20th, 2006

We want you to praise the Lord with us for the building fund offering that was taken Sunday night. We had $26,000 and another $2,000 that has been promised. The Lord answered our prayers and allowed us to generously reach the goal of $25,000. If you still desire to give, you may do so.

The carpet was cleaned today in the sanctuary and foyer. We will need help returning the chairs to the sanctuary this Wednesday at 3:00. The more men and women we have to help the faster it will be done. Sunday’s help was very much appreciated and contributed greatly to the successful Thanksgiving service we had.

I thank God for your generous giving and help.

Update on Ian

Posted by webmaster on November 17th, 2006

We got the results of Ian’s MRI today. It confirmed that all 3 areas are enlarged due to excess fluid because the brain is not absorbing enough CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) . This fluid provides nutrition to the brain. When the build up (which puts pressure on the brain and the head causing distention of the head) is minimal, as Ian’s is, it can resolve on it’s own by age 2. However, no one can say for sure whether it will do that. Also, a front portion of the “curtain” that separates the left and right hemispheres of the brain (corpus callosum) is missing. From what they could see, all of Ian’s brain tissue and nerves are in tact (praise the Lord!!) and no masses were present. So, thank you, thank you, thank you, for praying; but please continue doing so for Ian’s well being and our wisdom.

At this juncture we must decide where to go for a second opinion since we are not totally at peace waiting 2 years to see if this resolves (allowing for grave possibilities such as hemorrhage/aneurism/brain damage etc. in the meantime) unless that is the only option. Also, we would like clearer answers about the ramifications of the corpus callosum not being in tact. I am familiar with hydrocephalus because the daughter of family friends in VA had it from birth and lived to age 15 however we know that God has an individual plan for each of us and want to take steps out of surety of His leading and not fear. The Lord’s goodness never changes though circumstances often do. We know He will guide. Thank you in advance for praying that He chooses to do so very soon.

Posted by webmaster on October 30th, 2006
We are starting to plan for our November 19th Thanksgiving meal.  Stu says we will need all the tables and chairs that we own.  There are many chairs missing and some tables.  If you have borrowed and not returned them yet, would you please try to do so in the next couple of weeks.  Thank you for your attention to this detail.

Email from Renee McCloud

Posted by webmaster on October 2nd, 2006

I want to inform all of you that there were two soldiers in Tim’s battallion killed this weekend. That’s all I know, I don’t have any details. My heart is so deeply saddened for these two families whose lives were changed forever today. As I have earlier mentioned this is the month of Ramadan over there and the violence is greatly heightened. Tim is out on the road about 5 days a week right now, as best as I can tell. For those of you that don’t know he drives for about 15-18 hours a day, keeps a look out for roadside bombs or anything suspicious, and sets up security for convoys carrying supplies in for the soldiers all across the country. He does this in the western part of Iraq, driving to the border of Syria and back to pick up these supplies.

I can never express my gratitude for your prayers, God is obviously using Tim over ther and keeping him safe. Please keep these families in your prayers also over the next couple of days.
